COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Ecotourism is defined as "responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people."
GRADING SCALE: Grades are calculated
on a weighted system:
A: 90-100 %
B: 80-89 %
C: 65-79%
D: 50-64 %
F: 0-49 %
Weighting:
Tests/Quizzes 55%
Classwork 10%
Homework 10%
Projects/Labs 25%

MAKE-UP WORK:
Must come in during office hours after school for make-up work.
All late work will receive a “C” if done well.
You must staple your excused absence slip to your class-work makeup. I will return the slip to you if you need it back.
EXTRA CREDIT
Stamps will be placed on papers showing excellent work. Collect 5 for extra credit points.
This course will include a couple of Project Based Learning assignments that will include some of your other subjects. Ex. Biology, English and
Geography.
BEHAVIOR
DO NOT ask questions before the tardy bell rings.
First: I will discuss the agenda for the day.
Second, I shall answer any questions you may have.
Be on time. A student is marked tardy if s/he is not in his/her seat and
ready to work when the tardy bell begins to ring.
If you are tardy, go directly to the side of the classroom and stand until I mark you late in the computer attendance or 15 minutes at the most.
Please let me know if I take longer than 15 minutes.
Tardy 4: Letter home for parent notification
Tardies 5-6: Teacher phone call home,
warning of tardy danger
Tardies 7 +: Teacher refers student to
Administrator
Tardy 10: Parent conference requested.
Tardies 12 or more: Loss of all school activities
Be prepared. Always bring your notebook, clean paper, and a pen or pencil.
Be silent when the teacher is lecturing. If you have a question for the teacher or need to leave your seat, be sure to raise your hand to be recognized by the teacher.
Be considerate. Please respect other students and the property of others, including school property. Don't be rude!
There shall be respect between student and teacher.
Office hours
Will be once a week after school.
You may make up tests (with excused absence) or get missing work.
Save all returned work. Your returned work is your proof of points earned on
assignments.
No personal grooming - comb hair, put on makeup, curl eye lashes, or fix clothing in class.
No hoods over heads, so I can see that no headphones are on
I should NOT SEE any earphone, headphones or personal electronic devices in the classroom at anytime. I will take away for one day, send to BT office or return to your parents at a later date.
No cell phones used for any reason. Put on vibrate. I will take away if they ring out loud.
* You will be given 4 bathroom passes per semester. Use them wisely. Do not give or accept from your friends.
MARKS 3 marks in 1 week = detention for 30 minutes
Being sent to the counselor for misbehaving is an automatic detention and possibly a parent conference or phone call.
* Tardy = 2 marks
* Out of seat without raising hand: 1 mark
* No pencil or pen, paper = 1 mark
* Bathroom pass: 3 marks if you use up all your passes.
* Talking too much = 1 mark
* Being by doorway: 1 mark
* Not working = 1 mark
* Turning off the class lights: 3 marks
* Playing with the school’s or teacher’s property: 1 mark
* Being rude to anyone (that includes foul language) 1 mark
* Writing on desks or other school property: 3 marks (detention)
* Passing any tape which acts as a no trespassing line: 1 mark
* Leaving any trash in the classroom after you leave: 1mark
* Whistling or making strange sounds to any VISITOR. 3 marks (detention)
* Drinking or eating in classroom. = 1 mark (drinks & food may be taken away.
* Putting head down on desk or arm, etc... 1 mark & stand for 5 minutes to help you wake up.
DETENTION
If you should receive three marks in one week, you will serve detention
for half-an-hour. I will contact your parents on your second detention. If you
forget to come in for detention on your assigned day, you will stand for the entire period until you come in for your detention unless your parents write me a letter opposing this.
If you forget to come in for 2 weeks, you may be sent to the office for disciplinary reasons. Your parents may be required to come in for a conference.
Three marks in one week is a "U" on your report card in "Cooperation".
One mark will earn you an "S". You must go two straight weeks without a mark to move up one letter.
Three detentions during the semester may be require a parent
conference.
Usually (with few exceptions)
An "A" or "B" receives an "E" in work habits
A "C" receives an "S" in work habits
A "D" or "F" receives a "U" in work habits
OTHER INFORMATION
Notes will be graded usually during chapter test. These rules go on top.
Policy on Homework
Papers must have full name, date, period number and title
of work on upper right hand corner of your paper.
If this information fails to appear on the paper, your work will lose points or be returned. Staple papers from same assignment together.
Use black or blue ink only. No pencils, except on scantrons.
LATE WORK is a “C” if done well and you cannot owe me detention before I accept it.
Late Homework for the month is due at end of that month.
No typed HW unless I ask you to.
